Each morning as I battle my way to work negotiating and sometimes bullying through the notorious Bangalore traffic I eagerly peer to my right to catch a glimpse of the Shining Red Volvo majestically making its way to ITPL. This has become a daily routine and never fails to provide me with my morning dose of ear-to-ear grin. The green scrolling text on the head of the bus smartly declares that it has been gliding on from Majestic and heading for Hope Farms, Whitefield. The other day I even caught one that was headed to E-city and the same feeling of ecstacy took over me.
Now what is it about these crimson machines that excites me so much. Well I really don't know. It could be the feeling of absolute surprise at the kind of inventive thinking done by BMTC, the erstwhile bangalore bus service that basically terrorize everything else that shares the road. To imagine this very same guys to come up with such a novel idea to lure away the car owners into abandoning their private cars and yet enjoy the same conditioned air and the silky suspension and all such comforts that the Volvo is famous for. And all this when not having to wield the battleship controls waging the daily battle against the rest of the road hogs !
No but that doesn't explain my rather curious sense of joy at the mere sight of these red babies. Maybe its just their stunning looks standing straight out among the crowd. Who cares ? I just love to look at The Flaming Red Volvo each morning :)
